A saga of mystery, memory, and human fractures

Presentation Note

Rida Lamrini

Meanders of Oblivion unfolds a romanesque saga where mystery, memory, and human fractures are tied in the same tension. From a powerful opening scene — a stormy night, a shootout at sea, a man fished out half-dead off Almería — Rida Lamrini opens a story where the intimate mingles with the violence of the world, cross-border trafficking, old loyalties, and buried truths. Between Sète, the Rif mountains, Almería, Paris, and other territories crossed by secrets, the novel follows several trajectories that cross around a central enigma: that of a man without a name, without apparent memory, carrying a past on which much more than a lost identity depends.

Carried by a vast, tense, and intensely embodied writing, Meanders of Oblivion is both a novel of suspense, filiation, desire, and tipping points. Through André, Romy, Roger Delmas, Lhaj, Jamal, Samira, and the darker figures of organized crime, Rida Lamrini composes a work where oblivion is never simple erasure, but a combat zone between what seeks to disappear and what insists on coming back to the light.

Themes

What the novel explores

Memory Fracture

Amnesia and Dark Zones

What happens when oblivion becomes the only refuge? The novel questions the mechanisms of memory loss as a survival instinct in the face of unbearable trauma.

Final Confrontation

Revelation and Return to Reality

After the spiritual wandering, the story plunges into raw realism: threats, criminal networks, and the sudden unveiling of the heaviest family secrets.

The Water Cycle

Shipwreck and Resurgence

From the vastness of the ocean to the inner meanders, water acts as a central motif, by turns a destructive threat and a vector of found truth.

Romanesque Saga

Its place in the work

As the final volume, Meanders of Oblivion has the heavy task of putting all the pieces back together. It reorders and gives meaning to the events of the first two volumes.

It is the novel of retrospective explanation. Thus, the reader who followed the original intimate drama (Volume 1) then the labyrinthine quest (Volume 2) discovers here, often to their great surprise, the true common threads of the story, woven long ago.

Poetic Fragment

Under this infinite sky, I address the absolute. What remains of the being we were, once eroded by the tides of the past? Does memory still cling to a few flashes of light, or does the wind end up dissolving everything?
What becomes of our dreams, love, and ideals when time erodes them, when oblivion sets in, and the stars, one by one, go out in the wind?

Literary Analysis

Reader's View

The novel of fulfillment, where the saga finds its final light in the urgency of a darker world and a found memory.

The novel rests on a very strong structure: on one side, an intrigue of rescue, amnesia, and inquiry; on the other, a trans-Mediterranean criminal mechanism where old loyalties, new ambitions, and power logics collide. What makes it unique is that these two lines don't just oppose each other: they end up responding intimately. The rescued man is not just a narrative mystery; he becomes the point of convergence between lost memory, the violence of reality, and buried truth.

The book also explores a deeper fracture: that of lineages. Through Lhaj and Jamal, it stages the conflict between an old order, rooted in the land, prudence, and survival, and a generation ready to tip into a logic of conquest, speed, and excess. In parallel, the relationship between Romy and the stranger introduces a more intimate tension, made of care, desire, compassion, and vertigo.
